Moving into November, I can’t believe how the months have flown by. Not to be lost in time, this past September was the month for concerts in Portland. Combined with my new Canon A-1, Bon Iver at Edgefield was the perfect camera test ground. We went with a few friends to enjoy the last weekend of summer, set to the soundtrack of what’s to come; bon iver, or good winter. I’m reliving some of the best September tunes tonight with Bon Iver, Junior Boys, James Blake, & And And And.

These songs are the accompaniment to packing and saying goodbye to our first Portland home. Quaint, folksy, and charming, this big old drafty house is braided with my memories of our beginnings here. From old fashioned chicken races at block parties, to the crackling fireplace set to the pitter patter of rain, and brisk summer eves listening to the neighbor’s folk music float over our porch — it’s been an authentic Portland introduction to our new city. I can only hope we get as many unicycling bagpipers and extroverted loudmouth cats in our next hood. Here’s to 44th Ave.

Embarked on a bit of weekend cooking with leftovers in the fridge. Results: Mini Quiche.
+ fillo dough
+ 2 cups fresh chopped spinach
+ leftover vegetables (1 tomato, some chopped olives, green onions)
+ 2 eggs
+ colby jack cheese
+ sea salt & fresh pepper, to taste
Line muffin tins with 5-6 layers of fillo dough (after using a non-stick spray/butter), and mix all other ingredients in bowl till combined. Fill the lined muffin tins with egg mixture, sprinkle with extra cheese. Cooked at 350 degrees F for about 15 minutes. Makes 6-8 mini quiches.
Enjoying some backyard weed flowers before they have the chance to make more. Nothing like a bit of flower arranging to end off this nice dusky spring day.
